Travel and Registration
Event Overview
SoCS 2024 will be host at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada from 4 pm on June 6th, 2024 (right after ICAPS) to 6 pm on June 8th, 2024.
Please note that our registration fee includes all meals and a hotel room during the symposium. You will not need to book hotel rooms yourself.
Please also note that the registration fees for students and non-students are the same. But, we have set aside money for student scholarships. For students who need financial assistance, please apply for the student scholarship hosted by the Doctoral Consortium by March 10, 2024. This is available to all students; see more details here.
We require at least one author from each paper to register and present the work in person.
We have three-stage registrations:
Early registration by April 5, 2024, 23:59 (AoE)
Registration fee: $875 USD
Late registration from April 6 to May 3, 2024, 23:59 (AoE)
Registration fee: $975 USD
Ad-hoc registration after May 3, 2024
After May 3, 2024, if you want to register, please contact the SoCS local arrangements chair/treasurer (Nathan Sturtevant - nathanst@ualberta.ca) to see if it is still possible to register. We will register you with or without the hotel rooms, based on the availability of the hotel rooms.
What is included in the registration fee:
Access to all events (invited talks, technical talks, poster sessions, DC program, etc)
A shared hotel room from June 6 to June 8 (2 nights). The hotel room is in the same hotel as the venue. There are no other hotels nearby, so we have pre-reserved a block for SoCS. Each room contains two queen beds. So, by default, you will share the room with another SoCS participant. However, if you prefer to occupy the room by yourself (or bring family of up to 4 to share a room), you will need to pay an additional $300 USD during registration.
All meals, including opening reception on June 6, three meals on June 7, and breakfast and lunch on June 8, as well as refreshment breaks during the day.
A bus from ICAPS to SoCS on June 6 and a bus from SoCS to the Calgary airport after the event on June 8.
Registration:
SoCS has reserved a block of 45 rooms at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. Each room contains two queen beds; room reservations are managed directly by SoCS. If sharing a hotel room, you will need to indicate your roommate at registration. If you would like help finding a roommate, the local arrangements co-chair Rick Valenzano <rick.valenzano@torontomu.ca> is managing a shared worksheet to help participants find roommates. If you are coming with family, you can book a single occupancy room and have up to four guests share the room.
The hotel has very limited availability but will offer a group rate one day before or after the conference, subject to availability. (Approximately $300 USD/night including all taxes and resort fees.) The local arrangements team will confirm the availability of additional room nights as quickly as possible after you complete your registration.
Please note that all SoCS participants are expected to follow the SoCS code of conduct: http://search-conference.org/index.php/Main/CodeOfConduct
SoCS registration can be found here; please note that registration is non-refundable, but it can be transferred to another attendee.
